Dietician Blog: Diets versus Lifestyle Changes

Mon, 2009-07-27 00:55

As dietitians, we are often approached by patients looking for a quick and easy solution to weight loss. With so many diet pills, fat reduction products and supposed miracle cures advertised today, people often get the idea that health is something that can be ordered at the drive-through. Diets will help you lose weight. But I explain to each patient that to keep the weight off means changing their eating habits. Diets deprive you from your favorite foods, which will usually lead to failure, or regaining the weight after the diet is over. The more you know about nutrition, exercise and lifestyle management, the more successful weight loss can be. A little knowledge goes a long way when it comes to taking care of our bodies.
